CASSEROLE CARRIER     

(Beginner)

 

Need something to carry those goodies to your family gatherings.  You can do this casserole carrier which will carry a 9 inch pie or a 1 1/2 -2 quart casserole. This carrier can be made with strips of fabric or full pieces of fabric.  In class we will do it with strips and quilt it as we go.

NOTE:      Because of bad weather during January, February and March, the Winter classes will be offered during the afternoon.  If you are interested in any of the Winter classes and cannot attend during the day, please contact us and arrangements can be made to hold the class on an individual basis at another time.






"LOG CABIN BROKEN STAR" QUILT TOP

(Experienced Beginner)


If you are now interested in making a full size quilt top, we will be putting together a traditional quilt called "Log Cabin Broken Star and Grandmas Fan" quilt top. This is a 6 week class that will give you more experience and confidence with quilt making.  This quilt has a beautiful 8 pointed star put together using the log cabin method.  This quilt top is a rectangle sized to 72 inches by 84 inches but extra borders can be added to make it larger.  We will be assembling the quilt top only in class.  The final quilting of the quilt top will be up to each individual whether it is hand quilted or machine quilted.

 MACHINE QUILTING

 (BEGINNER)


Learn the basics of machine quilting including the preparation work as well as practising some of the basic machine quilting patterns.  It will also

include how to bind your finished project.  You will need a "walking foot" and a "darning or embroidery foot" for your sewing machine.

 FOUNDATION PAPER PIECING

 (BEGINNER)


Want to learn a new technique?   How about giving Foundation Paper Piecing a try.   You get to know the basics and then we will try a couple of blocks in order to practice what you have learned.   You can take those blocks and make whatever you want.  You could do a table runner, a wallhanging  or add more blocks to them and make a quilt.

BEGINNER 101 - Table Runner

If you have been sewing and have thought you would like to try quilting, well here is a class that you can try out.  The project is a table runner.  Even though it is a small project, you will learn all the quilting basics only on a smaller scale.  You will learn the cutting basics, the sewing of the top together, the quilting of it and the finishing steps.  All the cutting tools will be supplied in class.  You just have to bring your sewing machine, sewing supplies, thread, fabric and yourself.  A simple project to try a new hobby.

BEGINNER 102 - "Log Cabin" Quilt Top

If you are now interested in making a full size quilt top, now is the time to put together a traditional "Log Cabin" quilt.  This is a 5 week class that will give you more experience and confidence with quilt making.  The class will happen in two stages.  The first 3 weeks we will learn all the basics steps to put the Log Cabin blocks together.  You will be given a 2 week break from classes so that you can work on your own in order to make all the blocks that is required for the quilt top.  Then we will come together for the last 2 weeks in order to take the blocks and sew them into a quilt top and to finish your quilt top with borders.

BEGINNER 103 - Sampler Quilt Top

We will show you the modern basic techniques which will allow you to learn to sew together a quilt top. This 8 week course will focus on the basic techniques of quilting, including rotary cutting, piecing, hand applique and more. At the end of the course you will have made a lap size quilt top.

PAYMENT of class fee is required at time of registration.  This will guarantee your place in class.  Please be sure that you are available to attend the class for which you are registered as fees cannot be refunded.  Fees will be refunded only if the class is cancelled.  Class fee does not include pattern or supplies unless otherwise stated.

 

There will be instructions and /or a supply list for each class.  Please read it completely to see what supplies are needed and what preparations need to be done.   Although we don`t insist that you purchase all of your supplies from Evelyn`s Sewing & Things, we appreciate your support.  You will receive 15%  discount on  in-stock regular-priced supplies purchased for your class.

 

Please write down the date(s) and time(s) of the class or classes that you signed up for.  We don`t want you to miss them.  If a class is cancelled, we will call you.

 

Please bring your sewing machine (in good working order) to class.  Please bring a Basic Sewing Kit to all classes.  This includes:  pins, needles, scissors, a seam ripper, pencil, paper, thread, ruler, etc.
